Have you been craving critical feminist/enviro discussions?
Well here it is! All welcome and pass it on to anyone else keen to pile on…
Composting Feminisms: Western Piles
We are a group of feminist-artists-educators-researchers interested in the intersections of ecological, feminist and queer concerns. Inspired by Astrida Neimanis and Jennifer Hamilton’s successfully generative Composting: Feminisms and the Environmental Humanities Reading Group, Sydney University and its offshoots springing up across Australia, i.e., EcoFeminist Fridays at Melbourne University, and Unsettling the Humanities Reading Group at the University of Tasmania we propose to decolonise the Western
frontier.
Join us to de/compose scholarly, artistic and activist work scratching at the margins: queer, trans* and non-binary, people of colour, first nations, crip…
Our first meeting, “Locating the pile,” is Tuesday 30 April 11-12:30 at City Farm Cafe, 1 City Farm Place, East Perth. We plan to meet the last Tuesday of each month.
The readings for “Locating the pile” are:
- Strang, Veronica. 2013. “Conceptual relations: Water, ideologies, and theoretical subversions.” In /Thinking with Water/, edited by Cecilia Chen, Janine MacLeod and Astrida Neimanis, 185-211. Montreal: MQUP.
- West, Katie. 2018. Living Well. ArtLink 38 (2).
All welcome. Just show up.
Cheers,
Mindy Blaise, ECU & Tarsh Bates, UWA
